This British Colony was situated in the southern portion of the Malay Peninsula in SE Asia and consisted of Malacca, Penang and Singapore (with Christmas Island) were formed into a Crown Colony in April 1867. The Cocos Islands were transferred to the Colony in February 1886 and Labuan in 1896. Stamps first issued in 1867 prior to which the stamps of India were used. In 1946 Singapore became a separate Crown Colony and Labuan transferred to North Borneo both issuing their own stamps as did Malacca and Penang in 1948.
