The Oil River Protectorate whose name was changed in 1893 to the Niger Coast Protectorate, issued stamps from 1892 until 1900. Prior to 1892 the stamps of Great Britain were used. In January 1900 the Niger Coast Protectorate became the protectorate of Southern Nigeria.
