Situated in the West Indies, Turks Islands are part of the Turks & Caicos group and comprise of the two islands of Grand Turk and Salt Cay. The first post office opened on Grand Turk in December 1854 and the first stamps were issued in 1867 until 1895. In 1900 Turks Islands stamps were replaced by stamps inscribed Turks and Caicos Islands.
