An island off the north-west coast of Borneo which was taken by the British in 1846. It issued its first stamps in 1879 until its incorporation with the Straits Settlements in 1906 when it ceased issuing its own stamps. In 1946 it became part of the Colony of North Borneo until 1963 when North Borneo joined the Federation of Malaysia.
