Britain maintained a number of Post Offices throughout Morocco with the first Postal Agency being established in 1857. Prior to the first stamps being issued in 1898 the stamps of Great Britain and Gibraltar were used. Gibraltar was responsible for the Post Offices in Morocco up until 1907 and the first issues were released in June 1898 by overprinting Gibralatar stamps "Morocco Agencies". The control of the British Postal Agencies lasted from 1907 until 1957 during which the stamps of Great Britain were overprinted and surcharged in various currencies.
